SMART BUILDING FOR HIGH-END RESEARCH
International biotechnology company Genmab, listed in Copenhagen and New York, has its own research and development centre in Utrecht Science Park. Biotech companies like Genmab are the driving force behind economic growth and innovation, geared towards a new future.
The bar for sustainability is high for new buildings. Genmab’s R&D centre is one of the first BREEAM Excellent-certified laboratories in the Netherlands. An underground car park was realized with electric car charging stations as part of the building, further stimulating sustainability awareness.
The new research facility contains spaces for international scientists to meet: offices and facilitating spaces like a science café, plaza and auditorium. This was an explicit wish of Genmab, for which Dura Vermeer found suitable solutions.
In its collaboration with Dura Vermeer, Genmab praised their shared core values: cooperation, interaction, clarity about agreements, networking, and the importance of long-term relationships. The company found the collaboration to be both positive and inspiring. Genmab appreciates Dura Vermeer’s proactive attitude during construction and all other processes, as well as its commitment to staying within the financial frameworks.
The final result makes for a proud client. “The R&D centre is a beautiful, open, and state-of-the-art building that reflects how we look at the world, how we want to promote our business, and what collaboration and connection mean to us,” says founder and CEO of Genmab, Jan van de Winkel.
Investor Kadans Science Partner is pleased that Dura Vermeer brought them into contact with Genmab. They, too, are proud of the result: an iconic building that they are glad to have in their investment portfolio.
